Last Reminder – MetalCraft Hosts ABYC Electrical Certification Class in Kingston
This is a last reminder that MetalCraft Marine hosts an ABYC Electrical Certification Class in Kingston, Ontario from Tuesday, April 17, 2012 to Friday, April 20, 2012. The course will be held at the Peachtree Inn, 1187 Princess Street in Kingston.
This 4 day course is designed for the marine professional with at least 3 – 5 years experience working with marine electrical system design, installation or repair. The successful certification candidate should have some familiarity with ABYC electrical standards. Course topics include electrical theory, lead-acid batteries, using a multi-meter, battery testing, generator sets, inverters, grounding and bonding systems, troubleshooting and more. At the time of registration, each student will be shipped the latest edition of the ABYC Study Guide which should be studied prior to class. Your ABYC study guide contains excerpts from all the pertinent ABYC Standards for this class. This class concludes with a 200 question certification exam.
The ABYC standards, ABYC study guide, and your class notes may be referred to during this exam. The current ABYC Standards are available to members on-Line via (WebStir), CD, or as a book. The use of laptop computers, calculators or mobile phones (with a calculator app) will be allowed during the exam, however anyone caught texting or engaging in any sort of photography during the exam will be immediately ejected from the class. Candidates removed from class for any ethical violation will not be refunded tuition or test fees. All candidates need to supply their own #2 lead pencil for filling out the exam answer sheet.
Standards specific to this certification, and that the certification candidate may want to review or have access to during the exam include: A-27, A-28, A-31, E-2, E-11, E-10, TE-4, TA-27 and TE-30
Class Note: You may bring the ABYC Standards Manual "Standards & Technical Information Reports for Small Craft" or CD Rom/Laptop to class. All Standards discussed will be contained in your Study Guide. You must bring your Study Guide to class. A Study Guide will be shipped to you upon course registration.
