Toronto International Boat Show Announces List of Free Activities

The Toronto International Boat Show, January 14 – 22, 2012 has announced their list of free activities designed to add entertainment and enjoyment to show visitors seraching for the boat of their dreams

Some of the great 2012 Toronto International Boast Show special attractions are:

THE LAKE will be back to provide indoor thrills without the outside chills. Organizers bill this as the world’s largest indoor lake. It takes over six days to create with more than one million gallons of Lake Ontario water being pumped into the Ricoh Coliseum!

On the Lake will be be Wakeboard/Wakeskate Exhibition & Demonstrations where wakeboarders and skaters crank up the volume for a spectacular show of grinds, tricks and flips.

Also on The Lake, visitors can discover watersports and go wakeboarding,  guided by expert instructors. Show-goers receive hands-on wakeboarding instruction “on shore,” then take to The Lake to try out their new skills behind Ontario’s first Sesitec System 2.0.

Free Boat Rides from kayaking to canoeing, paddleboats to inflatables, are also offered on The Lake.

This year Abby Sunderland, the youngest person ever to sail solo around Cape Horn will appearing in person to share her incredible sailing adventures as well as her amazing stories of courage and determination. Her book Unsinkable was released in April 2011.

There is also a new Boat Listing Service where show-goers can shop the show online at TorontoBoatShow.com in advance and see what boats will be on display for 2012.

This year, an additional Seminar Stage has been added to complement the more than 100 free seminars being offered. There are featuring an exceptional line-up of guest speakers!

Special Preview Night returns Friday, January 13 and it’s simply the best opportunity to see the show without the crowds. Guests enjoy live entertainment, delicious food and beverages and a unique shopping experience. Over the past 10 years, Special Preview Night has raised more than $560,000 for boating-affiliated charities. Tickets went on sale November 1 at TorontoBoatShow.com or call 905-951-0009.

Canadian Yachting’s Island Village is back, nestled in among the sailboats at the hub of Sailfest. This will be the place to gather to enjoy the flavours and sounds of the Carribbean and talk to the various island representatives and charter boat companies.  A great way to see the sailboats and connect with family and friends on the dock or under a palm tree.
