Wow Regatta Was A Great Success

Dedicated to getting more women out on the water and boating, the 2nd Annual WOW Regatta was a great success again this year. The event was at the group's host club, the Island Yacht Club.

This year there were 10 boats and over 40 women vying for the flags and prizes. The organizers want to thank Lakeshore Yacht Club for sponsoring and providing the committee boat with John LSYC and Kristina from PCYC as Race Officer!

The wind was low as they started to gather in Humber bay, but by the time the 1st race started it was 6-8 kts. The ladies raced 3 races back to back with the wind building for race two then dying down again in race three. They all hit the start line and were off upwind, each racing boats from 25' to 38' with all women skippers, mentors and crew!

The 1st place team Uncorked (again this year) from FPYC took home a Raymarine VHF sponsored by CMC Electronics. 2nd place was Defiant from NYC who took home a hand held VHF and WOW hats sponsored by Skippers Plan. Well done ladies!

Everyone had a great day on the water and a fabulous BBQ dinner at IYC. The weather co-operated and was sunny and warm all day!

The prize table was sponsored by; The Store Masons Chandlery, Mary-Kay sun protection, Natural Marine cleaners, Landmark General Products pink tool box,  Balance Body & Soul Nutrition and the WOW Organizers! All the racers got to pick a  prize from the table! A special thanks to North Lakes Yachting for suppling the Delphia 33

From the WOW committee, Katrina Lewis, Lori Mason, Vicky Sutherland, Donna Scott and Heather Roberson on FB, hope to see you next year!!

About a month ago, I traveled to Charlevoix, MI for a special press event to introduce the H9 to a small group of journalists. The water and the weather were a bit cool but the sun was out and Lake Charlevoix was calm and the Four Winns H9 was very impressive. This is a 29-foot 11-inch luxury day boat with a 9- foot 2-inch beam and it features a fabulous expansive flat floor all the way from the bow rider area to the transom and the swim platform.
