DOCK WATER NEVER TASTED SO GOOD

FCI Watermaker

July 3, 2016

In many marinas, dock water is poor-tasting and contaminated with minerals, odours and worse: diseases. FCI Watermakers offers a solution. Its Dockside Treatment System (DTS) provides up to 3,000 gallons of sparkling fresh, crystal-clear water every day—enough for a myriad of uses.

The DTS is ideal for drinking, cooking, bathing and refilling onboard supplies. For obtaining the perfect, spot-free deck and hull without hand-drying, there’s nothing better than a pure water rinse. The unit removes 99% of total dissolved solids and 100% of bacteria and viruses.

The DTS is highly efficient. It’ll recover an industry leading 70% of the incoming supply. When many marinas are now charging extra for dock water, especially for transients, that savings adds up.

FCI Watermakers’ next-generation DTS+Solo is the ultra-convenient standalone unit that doesn’t rely on a watermaker. The pump, motor and membranes are built into a rugged, powder-coated frame for easy installation. It’s fully automatic and models are available to make 2,000 or 3,000 gallons of water per day (GPD).

FCI also manufactures the innovative DTS+ and DTS+Auto series, which are plumbed in-line to an FCI Watermakers Aquamiser+ or Max-Q+ desalinization unit. This provides the ability to make fresh water while at sea and process dock water, all from a single machine. No additional pumps, motors or controls are needed. Both compact units are offered in capacities from 600–1,850 GPD.

Like all FCI Watermakers products, the DTS line is built in the US using only quality, non-proprietary, standard-sized parts. This means if the unit needs service in a distant port, replacement parts are easily obtainable. The company has a global service presence.

Good Advice that You Can Share – The Art of Anchoring

Unless a boat is secured, it will drift away. If it cannot be attached to something secure, such as a dock, piling, mooring buoy, tree, or boulder, it must be anchored. There is much more to anchoring than simply tossing the anchor over the side.

An anchoring system has two parts: the anchor itself and the rode which connects the anchor to the boat. To be effective, an anchor must have good holding power, and the rode must be strong enough to withstand the strains that are put on it.
