PORT HOPE FATHER TO ROW 4,000KM ACROSS ATLANTIC AS PART OF $1 MILLION CAMPAIGN
July 10, 2017
Colin Sanders, a father and local business leader is readying himself to complete a 4,000km solo row across the Atlantic Ocean in December in support of Community Living Ontario’s inclusion efforts for people who have an intellectual disability. The journey has been dubbed A Million Possibilities: Solo Ocean Row 2017.
Sanders’ son Jeff has both physical and intellectual disabilities and has been supported by a local Community Living organization for several decades. With support from Community Living, Jeff has been able to actively participate in his community, in addition to living a life of dignity and respect. Sanders is aiming to raise $1 million on his journey for Community Living Ontario.
At 64, Sanders will be one of the oldest people to ever attempt the solo crossing. He is expected to depart from the Canary Islands on December 1st and arrive in Antigua within 90 days of his departure.
