NMMA CANADA RECEIVES FEDERAL FUNDING TO SUPPORT CANADIAN MANUFACTURERS EXPAND INTO NEW EXPORT MARKETS
Oct 17, 2017
The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Canada is receiving more than $93,000 in funding from Global Affairs Canada to support the efforts of Canadian recreational marine manufacturers to expand their businesses into new international markets.
This funding will help support nine Canadian manufacturers to exhibit, and an additional two companies attend, the Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) in Amsterdam, November 14-16. METS is the world’s biggest and most visited B2B leisure marine equipment show with over 15,000 attendees and 1,471 exhibiting companies and is a great opportunity for Canadian manufacturers to build business relationships overseas and increase exports.
The Canadian companies exhibiting at METS are Canada Metal (Pacific) Ltd., Deep Trekker Inc., Express Cat, Mustang Survival Inc., Navcast Inc., Samui Corp., Scepter Canada Inc., Schneider Electric and Shockwave Seats.
“NMMA Canada is thrilled to receive support from GOA to help Canadian marine manufacturers exhibit at METS this year and we thank the federal government for its commitment to the success of the recreational boating industry in Canada,” said Sara Anghel, executive director of NMMA Canada. “METS is the international boating industry’s must-attend trade show and provides Canadian marine companies the opportunity to build new business around the world.”
The funding contribution comes from Global Affairs Canada and their Global Opportunities for Associations (GOA) program which aims to provide opportunities for Canadian manufacturers to pursue business opportunities outside of Canada. GOA provides assistance across a wide range of sectors of the Canadian economy and matches funding of up to 50 percent of eligible expenses to support national associations for the benefit of the entire industry.
GOA funding has already helped to support three Canadian boat manufacturers exhibit at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in Australia, which ran from May 25-28, 2017, and enabled NMMA Canada to bring four companies to the International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition & Conference (IBEX) which ran September 19-21.
NMMA Canada has now received more than $200,000 in GOA funding over the past five years to support our Canadian manufacturers pursue business opportunities internationally.
