The International Marina Institute (IMI), a subsidiary of the Association of Marina Industries (AMI), is offering its popular Intermediate Marina Manager (IMM) program in beautiful, sunny San Juan, Puerto Rico, from June 17-21, 2018.

The IMM course is the first step towards the highly recognized Certified Marina Manager/CMM and Certified Marina Operator/CMO certifications. Candidates must successfully complete the IMM course to enroll in the Advanced Marina Management (AMM) course, which in turn qualifies them to apply for either CMM or CMO designation.

As preparation for advanced studies in marina management, the IMM course covers marina-specific topics including marina law, contracts, risks and liabilities, staff management, fire- and emergency-response planning, environmental management, health and safety compliance, and the timely issue of how best to market your marina to stay competitive in a difficult economy.

“We are excited to have been approached by Puerto Rico’s marina sector to offer marina management training to the marina managers on the island. We are also hoping to capture students from the neighboring Caribbean Islands along with others who may find a June timeline a perfect fit for their needs and schedule,” said Merritt Alves, IMI Training Coordinator.

Class fees—including hotel stay, breakfast, lunch, and all course materials—are $2,995 for AMI members or $3,470 for non-members.

IMI has been training and certifying marina personnel for over 30 years and offers courses in Intermediate Marina Management and Advanced Marina Management. Over 370 marina managers, representing many of the top marinas in the world, have been awarded the coveted CMM or CMO designations.

AMI is a nonprofit membership organization that provides management training, education and information about research, legislation and environmental issues affecting the marina industry.
