Apr 2, 2019

Starting March 2019, members of the Club Management Association of America (CMAA) may earn Continuing Education Units toward their CMAA certification and Certified Marina Manager designation by attending the Association of Marina Industries (AMI) professional marina managers courses. This provides an exciting new opportunity for yacht club managers, especially those focused on managing the waterfront operations, to access world-class professional training specifically designed for marina and yacht club managers.

CMAA, through their professional development and continuing education programming, offer members the designation of Certified Club Manager (CCM). This designation focuses on ten competency areas. The CMAA-AMI alliance allows CMAA members working toward the CCM designation the opportunity to take AMI training courses. AMI courses can also be used to maintain the CCM designation. More information on the CCM designation can be found at www.cmaa.org/certification.

AMI has been training marina managers since 1986 through multiple programs, including its Intermediate and Advanced Marina Managers school. Upon successful completion of these schools and after documenting their operational experience, participants can apply for the Certification of Marina Manager (CMM) or Certified Marina Operator (CMO) designation. A full list of course offerings can certification opportunities can be found at www.marinaassociation.org/training.

CMAA — Founded in 1927, the Club Management Association of America (CMAA) is the largest professional association for managers of membership clubs with 6,800 members throughout the US and internationally. The objectives of the Association are to promote relationships between club management professionals and other similar professions; to encourage the education and advancement of members; and to provide the resources needed for efficient and successful club operations.

AMI—The Association of Marina Industries (AMI) is a nonprofit membership organization that provides management training, education, and information about research, legislation, and environmental issues affecting the marina industry.
