GLOBALLY RECOGNISED DAME AWARD AT METSTRADE SHOW OPENS FOR ENTRIES

Dame Award Winners 2018

July 30, 2019

METSTRADE and RAI Amsterdam are pleased to announce the opening of entries for the 29th edition of the DAME Design Award, for the more than 1,600 exhibitors attending this year’s METSTRADE Show. Participation is open to manufacturers and authorised suppliers who are registered as exhibitors or co-exhibitors at the METSTRADE Show. The applications window will remain open for two months until 24 September.

DAME is unrivalled in terms of status and importance across the global marine industry. It places critical emphasis on the art and science of equipment design in all aspects, from styling, functionality and innovation, through to integration, practicality of use and presentation. It is judged by a panel of leading boat, interior and industrial designers, as well as user experts. Typically one-third to half of the entry field attain nomination status, which brings their products to the attention of the global marine audience ahead of METSTRADE and at the show itself. Those that go on to achieve DAME Category and Overall Winner awards are acknowledged as having reached the top standard of design practice for marine equipment in their field.

Showcase recognition
The DAME Awards are organised each year in conjunction with the METSTRADE Show, the world’s largest marine equipment trade event. DAME nominated products are placed on a special presentation within the METSTRADE Show. From these nominations, the final selection of seven Category Winners and the eventual DAME Award Overall Winner is made. The DAME Jury also awards a series of Special Mentions at its discretion.

The winner of last year’s DAME Award was Triskel Marine’s Integrel generator replacement system. Managing Director, Ken Wittamore, said: “Winning the DAME Award was the pinnacle of 10 years’ work for us and a total, delightful surprise. Everyone knows of the Award, many aspire to win it but we never dreamt that we would actually bring home the prize. Since then we have received hundreds of serious enquiries from around the world. We would not be in such a good place without METSTRADE.”

The association is very well supported and virtually any significant marine electronics company that you could name, was represented there on the Exhibitor list at the Expo as well as all being NMEA members and very supportive of the organization.
