Boston Whaler’s Edgewater facility earned the prestigious Brunswick Safety Leadership Award, the top award given in a program conducted by parent company Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC). Brunswick CEO Dave Foulkes presented Whaler’s safety committee with the award during a ceremony held on July 31. Boston Whaler then announced that it would donate the $10,000 prize received in conjunction with the award to two local charities, giving $5,000 each to Burns Sci Tech School and the Edgewater Animal Shelter.

At the ceremony, Boston Whaler President Nick Stickler addressed the crowd of employees and Brunswick executives. “I would like to congratulate our entire team for this accomplishment,” Stickler said. “Through a shared commitment to each other’s well-being, we’ve been able to uphold the highest standards. We’re proud to receive recognition from Brunswick for our ongoing efforts toward health and safety.”

The Brunswick Safety Leadership Award is selected and presented by Brunswick senior management to the most outstanding performers. Boston Whaler was one of three facilities selected for the top honor for their performance throughout 2018. Additional facilities received accolades including the Brunswick Award for Sustained Safety Performance and the Distinguished Safety Award. The purpose of the program is to encourage, recognize and reward employees and facilities that have achieved outstanding safety and wellness performance through promoting and practicing safety awareness, ultimately minimizing workplace incidents and injuries and improving the workplace.

“People, along with Energy, Environment and Products, are the four pillars of Brunswick’s sustainability efforts,” explained Foulkes. “We seek to have our employees, partners, customers and the communities where Brunswick operates all enjoying happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives. Safety and wellness are key components of this effort.” In all, 25 Brunswick facilities did not sustain any lost-time incidents in 2018.

“We congratulate Boston Whaler and its employees on their tremendous accomplishments,” Foulkes said.

Following the ceremony, a company gift was presented to all employees, along with a celebratory luncheon.
