Boating BC Association Executive Director Bruce Hayne

On January 3rd, the Boating BC Association announced that Surrey businessman and former City Councillor Bruce Hayne, has been appointed as the organization’s new Executive Director.

Hayne is an accomplished business owner with an extensive marketing and advertising background. He also brings a great deal of experience at the government level, having served as a Councillor in the City of Surrey over a seven-year period.

He assumed the position of Executive Director, effective January 6, 2020.

Hayne succeeds Lisa Geddes, who has held the position since June of 2014, and under whose guidance, Boating BC’s profile and presence as the voice of BC’s recreational boating industry, has been elevated.

“I would like to welcome Bruce to the Boating BC team. The skills and experience he brings will be an asset in both representing and advocating for the sector,” said Don Prittie, President of Boating BC Association. “And I speak for the entire Board when I say that Lisa’s dedication and commitment has been instrumental to our success for the last several years.”

Hayne’s appointment comes amidst preparations for Boating BC Association’s signature event, the Vancouver International Boat Show, February 5-9 at BC Place and Granville Island. The Association also spearheads a number of proactive initiatives, including their Abandoned Boats Program, BC’s Top Boating Destination and Safe Boating Week – while highlighting skill shortages in the industry and funding bursaries and scholarships for students seeking a career in the industry.
