Twiggy

Jan 14, 2020

Winner to receive a Toronto International Boat Show Prize pack including VIP show passes, hotel accommodation, and a remote-control boat just like Twiggy’s.

Twiggy, the world-famous waterskiing squirrel, is coming out of retirement to once again ride the waves at the Toronto Boat Show, North America’s largest indoor boat show at the Enercare Centre from January 17-26, 2020. To celebrate Twiggy’s triumphant return, the Toronto Boat Show and Canada’s largest hobby store Big Boys with Cool Toys have partnered to donate a shiny new boat so everyone’s favourite squirrel can ride in style. Since every new boat need’s a name, the Toronto Boat Show is calling upon Canadians to get creative in helping Twiggy select a new boat name.

Beginning today until January 19, Canadians can submit their favourite boat names (up to three names per submission) for the chance to have it branded on Twiggy’s new ride – participants can enter online at torontoboatshow.com, in-person at the Toronto Boat Show and on social media by tagging your submissions to @TorontoBoatShow using #TwiggysBoat.

Some early submissions include the likes of “Serenutty,” “Nuts For You,” “Squirrel Life,” and “Twig’s Rig.”

On January 21, in celebration of National Squirrel Appreciation Day, the Toronto Boat Show will select and reveal the Top 10 submitted boat names for a country-wide vote over 48 hours. The winning name will be announced on January 24 with a live unveiling of Twiggy’s new boat at the Toronto Boat Show.  For rules and regulations visit torontoboatshow.com.

In addition to bragging rights, the submitter of the winning name will receive a Toronto Boat Show prize pack (valued at $450 CAD), including a remote-control boat just like Twiggy’s from Big Boys with Cool Toys, two passes to the Toronto Boat Show and a one-night hotel accommodation at the Toronto Westin Harbour Castle.

Twiggy has performed across North America, appearing in movies and music videos to not only entertain with her special talent but also advocate for water safety. She’ll be performing at the Toronto Boat Show from January 18-26. Visit www.TorontoBoatShow.com for show times.

The association is very well supported and virtually any significant marine electronics company that you could name, was represented there on the Exhibitor list at the Expo as well as all being NMEA members and very supportive of the organization.
