VOLVO PENTA OF THE AMERICAS RECEIVES NATIONAL GREAT PLACE TO WORK RECOGNITION FOR SECOND YEAR IN A ROW
Mar 24, 2020
For the second year in a row, Volvo Penta of the Americas has achieved recognition as a Great Place to Work by a national institute that promotes and measures workplace excellence.
The Great Place to Work Institute certification recognizes companies that achieve high scores in employee satisfaction based on surveys of workers. The survey revealed that 94 percent of employees at Volvo Penta of the Americas said the company is a great place to work, exceeding its previous score of 91 percent in 2019. Workers noted Volvo Penta’s positive work culture, benefits, people and opportunities offered by the company.
Employee responses included:
• “Management is honest and ethical in its business practices.” – 97 percent
• “I am able to take time off from work when I think it’s necessary.” – 96 percent
• “I’m proud to tell others I work here.” – 97 percent
• “People celebrate special events around here.” – 95 percent
“This certification is an important validation of our ongoing program to achieve industry-leading levels of employee satisfaction on the job,” said Martin Bjuve, president of Volvo Penta of the Americas. “We work hard every day to build and sustain an atmosphere of mutual trust throughout our company. This is a critical component in our ability to continue delivering the highest levels of quality and service to our dealers, partners and customers.”
Factors contributing to the high scores in the Great Place to Work survey are the company’s continuing education programs, diversity initiatives, job safety focus, benefits, growth opportunities and active community involvement.
“Surpassing last year’s Great Place to Work certification score shows that we continue to make progress in sustaining a positive work environment,” said Valerie Harriell, vice president of Human Resources at Volvo Penta of the Americas. “Volvo Penta’s success in the industry is attributed to each and every employee, from the engineers who develop our game-changing power system solutions to the teams that pack and ship these products to locations throughout the world.”
Last year, Diesel Progress magazine presented Volvo Penta of the Americas with its “Employer of the Year” award for its success in cultivating a collaborative work culture.
