CCEOC and Boating Industry Canada News Week Digest are pleased to announce the 2022 Employer of Choice Award winners.

The Boating Industry Canada Employer of Choice (BICEOC) Award is the industry’s only made-in-Canada recognition for the country’s recreational marine industry.

There are two award categories:

  • Dealers & Marinas 
  • Marine Business: Manufacturers, Suppliers, Service Providers, Retailers and Distributors

* There can be more than one winner in each category.

The 2022 Award winners in the Marine Business: Manufacturers, Suppliers, Service Providers, Retailers and Distributors category are:

  • Princecraft Boats, Princeville, QC
  • Dometic, Vancouver, B.C.

The 2022 Award winners in the Dealers & Marinas category are:

  • Desmasdon’s Boat Works, Pointe au Baril, ON
  • Gibbons Motor Toys, Gibbons, AB
  • Oak Bay Marina, Victoria, B.C.

Additional detail on the Boating Industry Canada Employer of Choice program

The process starts by filling out the application form and then completing the Company Profile, a document that is used to collect detailed information on business / dealership leadership attributes and human resource policies, practices and procedures. This portion of the assessment accounts for 50% of the overall evaluation score.

The next step is the Employee Commitment Survey, an online measurement tool used to determine how employees feel about their workplace. The survey accounts for the remaining 50% of the evaluation score. 

There are 45 statements, 10 demographic questions and 1 open ended question. 

Questions are grouped into the following categories:

  • Compensation and Benefits
  • Rewards and Recognition
  • Management/Employee Relations
  • Training and Development
  • Career Advancement
  • Employee Engagement
  • Environment and Facilities
  • Leadership
  • Reputation
  • Personal Enjoyment

It does not take long to complete the survey and each participating organization will receive a list of employee pass codes and a link to access the survey. All surveys are anonymous and no individual survey data is provided back to participating organizations.

A weighted scoring system is used to determine the winners. The Winners Get:

  • Engraved trophy 
  • Recognition in a special feature in Boating Industry Canada News Week
  • Press release announcing winners
  • Unlimited use of the BICEOC logo
  • Listing on the CCEOC and Boating Industry Canada websites
