Now, almost any vehicle roof can hold a boat
Jan 9, 2022
The roof of a vehicle has always been a popular place to carry kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and small sailboats, but with ridges, sliding doors and panoramic glass panels, it’s often difficult to find a rack that will work. The new highly-adaptable Ridge Ready Monkey Bars from SeaSucker install in minutes on virtually any car, van, truck or SUV. And when they’re no longer needed, they remove without leaving a mark. The device is so innovative, it won the prestigious top Van/Pickup/Sport-Utility Product award at the 2022 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show.
Made in the USA, Ridge Ready Monkey Bars use SeaSucker’s Vacuum Mount technology. Far more than meager industrial suction cups that lose their seals soon after they’re applied, the four front and two rear 3.25″ oval mounts combine for total holding power of 990 lbs.—often for days on end. This is more than sufficient not only to bear the weight of boats up to 165 lbs., but also to keep them in place at highway speeds.
The Vacuum Mounts attach to 48″ or 60″ black powder-coated aluminum crossbars via solid marine-grade HDPE polymer and stainless-steel hardware. These assemblies can be moved to any position to ensure a perfect fit on the vehicle. The bars unscrew to make it easy to store them when not in use and are industry standard 1.325″/33mm dia. to accept other brands’ accessories.
Installing SeaSucker Ridge Ready Monkey Bars is easy. Placed on any clean, non-porous surface, the integrated pump on each Vacuum Mount is pushed until the orange indicator band disappears. If the band reappears, a few quick presses will recharge the holding power. When it’s time to remove the bars, the T-shaped tab is lifted to break the seal.
SeaSucker Ridge Ready Monkey Bars come with a spare vacuum pump and a 5gm container of maintenance lubricant. There’s a 48″ model and the 60″ version; both come with a limited lifetime warranty.
