SNAME ANNUAL MEETING AND EXPO RE-NAMED THE SNAME MARITIME CONVENTION

Sname

SNAME (Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers) has changed the name of its annual industry event from the SNAME Annual Meeting & Expo to the SNAME Maritime Convention.

The 2014 SNAME Maritime Convention will be held October 22-24 at the Hyatt Regency in Houston, Texas. The name change reflects a decision by SNAME to enhance the program and events scheduled during the yearly gathering to attract a wider cross-section of industry professionals.

“The program we’re developing for the new SNAME Maritime Convention will continue to address technical subjects and feature the latest products, but we’re also creating new opportunities for industry professionals to discuss and share knowledge relating to the economic, environmental and political issues that have an impact on virtually every facet of the maritime community,” said Peter G. Noble, SNAME President.

The deadline for proposals for technical papers, panel discussions, product technology presentations, product demonstrations and product display plans has been extended to April 18. “Any proposal that would interest the international community of maritime and ocean professionals will be considered,” Noble said.

For information on submitting a proposal for the 2014 SNAME Maritime Convention, visit www.sname.org/smc/program-presentations or contact Alana Anderson, Director of Events, via email at aanderson@sname.org or call her at 1+703.997.6705.

SNAME is an internationally recognized non-profit professional society of individual members serving the maritime and ocean industries. Founded in 1893, the Society comprises over 7,000 individuals around the world.

The association is very well supported and virtually any significant marine electronics company that you could name, was represented there on the Exhibitor list at the Expo as well as all being NMEA members and very supportive of the organization.
