THE PACIFIC YACHT CONFERENCE COMES TO VANCOUVER NEXT MAY

Pacific Yacht Conference

With its spectacular cruising grounds visited by relatively few superyachts, compared to say the Caribbean or the Mediterranean, the Pacific Northwest coastline appears to be a well-kept secret, at least in large yacht circles.

A new conference taking place aims to put Puget Sound, BC, Alaska and the entire region`s coast firmly on the superyacht map.   The Pacific Yacht Conference taking place in Vancouver on 28th & 29th May, 2014 is an international industry conference that will aim to draw participants from across the globe.

Officially supported by Canadian Yachting magazine, the conference will be produced by Quaynote Communications, a professional events company that has been running superyacht conferences in Europe, Asia and the Middle East now for almost a decade.

“The Pacific Yacht Conference will provide the region`s yacht builders, refitters, designers, brokers, marinas and service providers with the ideal forum for tackling issues and facilitating growth in their industry”, explained Lorna Titley, Director at Quaynote.

The 2 day conference will address pilotage and regulatory issues, cruising grounds from Puget Sound to Alaska, marina demand and supply in the Pacific Northwest, servicing larger yachts and refit versus new-builds.

The speaker line-up includes Sara Anghel of National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Canada, John Nassichuk of Raven Marine, Mark Drewelow of C2C & Founder, Yacht Aid Global (YAG), and Frederick Robinson of Carney, Badley, Spellman, P.S.

Running alongside the Pacific Yacht Conference, the organisers are planning The Pacific Yacht Show.  Taking place in central Vancouver, this new show will feature a variety of superyachts, from vintage to new-builds available for charter or sale.

“With its concentration of high net worth individuals, Vancouver is the ideal place for the Pacific Yacht Show” said Alison Singhal, co-Director at Quaynote. “There are many potential owners in the city who, once they have seen the superyacht lifestyle brought to their doorstep, will be more inclined to consider a purchase either now or in the future”.

CMRA

About a month ago, I traveled to Charlevoix, MI for a special press event to introduce the H9 to a small group of journalists. The water and the weather were a bit cool but the sun was out and Lake Charlevoix was calm and the Four Winns H9 was very impressive. This is a 29-foot 11-inch luxury day boat with a 9- foot 2-inch beam and it features a fabulous expansive flat floor all the way from the bow rider area to the transom and the swim platform.
