IMI ANNOUNCES LARGEST TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION NUMBERS SINCE 2008

IMI Catalogue

The International Marina Institute (IMI), the training subsidiary of the Association of Marina Industries (AMI), closes its fiscal year, ending September 30, 2013, with the largest training and certification numbers since 2008. IMI processed 13 certification applications last year, more than double the previous year, and trained over 300 marina professionals through its conferences, core training programs, and online webinars.

“This was a banner year for our training and certification programs,” Kayce Florio, IMI’s training coordinator, says.

“The increase in numbers proves that marina professionals continue to be serious about their training and companies are once again releasing training dollars back into their budgets. It is a very positive sign for the industry as a whole, as training and travel are the first things to be cut from budgets when the economy presents major challenges, the industry as a whole is feeling more positive about the future, and that’s good news for all of us.”

The most recent training program that IMI offered was its Intermediate Marina Management (IMM) course, November 10 – 14, 2013, in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This course was host to 28 marina professionals from China, Vancouver and the Caribbean to Wisconsin, Connecticut and Florida, to name a few, and equaled the largest ever IMI class held back in November 2007.

This was the IMM course held in West Palm Beach, FL and it too had 28 participants.

After the upcoming November 2013 IMM, IMI is offering the Advanced Marina Management (AMM) course in Charleston, SC, being held from February 23 – February 28, 2014 and the Marina Makeover Workshop, being held in Chicago, IL in March 2014.

CMRA

About a month ago, I traveled to Charlevoix, MI for a special press event to introduce the H9 to a small group of journalists. This is a 29-foot 11-inch luxury day boat with a 9- foot 2-inch beam and it features a fabulous expansive flat floor all the way from the bow rider area to the transom and the swim platform.
