23RD PORT CREDIT IN-WATER BOAT SHOW FINISHES WITH A FLURRY OF SALES
The Port Credit In-Water Boat Show capped off its 23rd boat show with strong sales in the larger boat category. The only show of its kind, the Port Credit Boat Show provides brokers and dealers with a great venue to sell off any non-current inventory, clearing the decks for new boat models.
“Even though crowds were down slightly, buyers still came and bought boats,” stated Lori Mason, show manager. The show estimates that 12 boats sold in all, more than 15% of the total boats on display. “There’s always an ‘after-shop’ in every show, so we estimate that sales will be even stronger,” continued Mason.
The Speaker’s Tent, sponsored by Informedboater.com, bustled with activity all weekend long. Once again, Rob McLeod pulled together a stellar list of speakers including Sheryl Shard, Wally Moran, and Craig Hamilton who shared the boating lifestyle on everything from cruising on the French Canals, to travelling to Cuba, and to managing your powerboat.
New this year – and a late entry to the show – was the Mercury Marine Prop-mobile, exhibiting for the first time in Canada. All boaters had to do was identify their engine and the Mercury Prop specialists would help them identify the correct props required.
Also taking part was Boating Ontario, with the Welcome to the Water kiosk for new boaters, and the Canadian Power & Sail Squadron, who administered the PCOC test.
Even though the weather was great – attracting many people onto the water — several serious buyers made it a successful weekend. The land display exhibitors were pleased with the quality of show visitor, showing serious interest in the many services and products that were being showcased.
“It’s been a tough economic year for the recreational marine industry. Even so, we are pleased that our show helped move some inventory while introducing new folks to boating.” continued Mason. “We’re already planning some interesting new features for next year.”
The 24th Port Credit In-Water boat show will be held at the Port Credit Harbour Marina.
