DAVID DE EYRE CLASSIC – REMEMBERING A LEGACY

David de Eyre Golf Tournament

The Boating Ontario Dealers are hosting their 6th Annual Golf Tournament, the David de Eyre Classic in honour of David de Eyre and we invite you to participate. If you have been a part of the marine industry for some time, no doubt you most likely crossed paths with David de Eyre. He was a legacy in the marine industry with his ownership of Clift’s Marine Sales. David was a successful business man and in his prime built Clift’s to be Canada’s largest yacht broker with over 400 listings with several offices throughout Ontario.

Always striving for improvement, David de Eyre met with Jack Pady and Pat Sturgeon to discuss an opportunity that would benefit the marine industry as a whole. These men had a vision to form a separate yacht brokers association that would ultimately implement the highest standards of service and professionalism in the recreational boating industry.  A new association was established and David de Eyre became the first Chair for the Boating Ontario Dealers Association (known as the Ontario Yacht Brokers and Dealers at that time) December 2005.
The association also established requirements that all of its members would become certified professionals. The objectives of the associations were as follows:
–    To improve the quality and standards of brokers in the recreational boating industry in Ontario
–    To ensure a minimum standard of professionalism for the brokerage industry
–    To benefit all association members by providing services and products to make their businesses more productive and efficient
–    To promote the brokerage industry to all of its stakeholders

The Boating Ontario Dealer’s Golf Tournament will be held on Wednesday August 14th, 2013 at the Nottawasaga Inn & Resort in Alliston.  Registration and the Driving Range will be open at 11:00am, with shot gun start at 12:30pm.  Cost per player is $150.00 plus HST which includes:  driving range, golf, power cart, bbq lunch & steak dinner.  What a great way to meet some new people in the industry and network out of the office and most importantly take time to remember those people in the industry that have made a difference like David de Eyre.

The Nottawasaga Resort is an all season resort hotel nestled within the quiet countryside of the Nottawasaga Valley, a short 45 minute drive from Toronto. The Nottawasaga golf course is the only 45 hole golf resort in Ontario and is considered to be a golfer's paradise. Whether you are a serious golfer or a recreational player, you will enjoy the spectacular varied elevation changes, tall trees, and large undulating greens offering a demanding but fair challenge to golfers of all abilities.
