MONTREAL BOAT SHOW BEATS BAD WEATHER WITH INCREASED ATTENDANCE
Despite the terrible weather on February 9th, the Montreal Boat and Water Sports Show, held from February 7th to 10th at Place Bonaventure, ended on a high note with 2.5 – 5% increase in attendance compared to the previous year. This attendance rate reinforces last years which had a remarkable increase of 25% (nearly 30,000 visitors).
Presented by the Quebec Marine Association, the Montreal Boat and Water Sports Show is the largest event of its kind in Quebec with more than 400 models of boats and over 275 exhibitors (10% more than in previous years). The 2013 Show has been diversified in order to fully satisfy all water sport, boat, fishing and nature lovers.
Some highlights of the 2013 Show:
• One of the world’s top sailors, Damian Foxall, was a lecturer at the Show. This world-renowned sailor, an Irish native who now lives in Quebec, has circumnavigated the globe nine times. He won four world-tour races, including the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012.
• Francis Bouillon, defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens, Pierre Bouchard and Yvon Lambert, former Montreal Canadians were present at the Show to sign autographs and share their passion for nautical activities.
• Twice as many sailing boats than in previous years (including the 6 biggest brands)
• All types of boats, including large yachts, sailing, fishing and motor boats, pontoons, electric motor, dinghies and boats made in Quebec
• All the latest in high-technology and accessories
• Many great conferences
• Useful information about buying, financing and insuring a boat
• Racing boats from the Régates de Valleyfield

Founded in 1996, the QMA represents both the pleasure boating industry and individual boaters. It offers services to meet the specific needs of each of these segments.
