MEDIATION RESULTS IN POSITIVE NEWS FOR 2013 VANCOUVER INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW

BC Place logo

The show organizers are very happy to report there is no longer a threat to the Vancouver Boat Show as a result of the labour mediation process between BC Place and BCGEU.

While an employment agreement has not yet been reached, it has been confirmed there will be no threat of job action during the Vancouver Boat Show, or the move-in and move-out.

This positive news comes following five very long days of mediation, and a decision today to break from mediation until after the event.

The parties have put in a tremendous effort and have been able to come to an agreement on the non-monetary changes to the collective agreement.

The BCGEU is satisfied that they are making headway at the bargaining table, and as sign of goodwill, the BCGEU has agreed that there will be no job action, and it will be business as usual at the stadium.

BC Place and BCGEU will resume bargaining with the assistance of the mediator on Wednesday, February 13, 2013.

Please note:
There will be no contingency plans required for move-in as a result of last Sunday’s developments. Exhibitors should continue with their original move-in plans.

The show organizers thank all exhibitors for their support and patience during these recent events.
