Boating Ontario Association’s Annual Discover Ontario Tour

Boating Ontario staff are out on their annual Discover Ontario tour to visit each region in this vast province of Ontario. It is a chance to visit with their members and to learn from them what the key issues are in their specific areas. Ontario has 13 regions from Metro Toronto to Thunder Bay in the far north. Issues will vary from region to region depending on the hot topics of the day.

This year we will be updating our members on:

The environment and the Boating Ontario Clean Marine program
Student training for 2012, including college programs and apprenticeship training
Property taxes and the new water lot lease agreements with MNR
Boater Assist Canada Inc. and the exciting news of our partnership with CAA
New regulations from TSSA re: propane and fuel handling
The exciting program additions for Discover Boating including an Economic Impact Study update and follow up of the new lead system being put in place.
Results of the boat shows throughout the Province.
Highlights of Ontario’s attempt at creating Tourism Regions with the Province.
Reviewing the outlook for insurance coverage and rates for 2012.
Discussion about topics to be covered at the Annual Conference and Trade Show this year being held in London.

The main benefit of hosting these meetings to the staff and to the Boating Ontario members is the chance to discuss the issues that really matter.

NMEA

The 2024 Marine Electronics Conference & Expo, held by the National Marine Electronics Association, (NMEA) took place September 16 to the 20th in Providence, Rhode Island. Boating Industry Canada was there for the first time and we were very impressed with what we found.

The association is very well supported and virtually any significant marine electronics company that you could name, was represented there on the Exhibitor list at the Expo as well as all being NMEA members and very supportive of the organization.
