A+ for Aquanaute’s 2012 Rendez-vous Nautique

The 9th edition of the annual Rendez-Vous Nautique earned once again an A+ note. After two consecutive postponements due to bad weather, the event was held on Sunday, August 19th, at the beach of Oka National Park on the Lake of Two Mountains. The event organizers, Aquanaute Training Centre, were delighted with this year’s overall attendance of over 100 boats, which makes this event still the most popular in its kind in Quebec.

The Rendez-Vous Nautique is held once a year for pleasure craft operators – motor boats, sailing boats, PWCs, canoes, kayaks and all other types of vessels – who join the celebration from all parts of Quebec and, for the first time, even from Ontario.

The first 100 registered attendees received a gift bag full of literature and gadgets offered by various sponsors, an over $40 value. The audience was entertained by DJ music and live tam-tam beat while dancing or playing beach games. Free food and a series of draws exhilarated winners of T-shirts, caps, PFD's and other give-aways provided by partners and sponsors,  while children enjoyed swimming and playing in the sand.

During the event, a survey conducted by Aquanaute on site focused on the following question: “Are you in favor of a legislation for mandatory practical pleasure craft operators boating courses?”  81% of the 135 respondents said Yes, 9% No, and 10% were undecided.

We are extremely pleased with our 2012 event, thanks also to support received from the industry, partners and sponsors such as Oka National Park, Quebec Maritime Association (QMA), the Quebec Provincial Police (SQ), Parks Canada, the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, Marcart Marine, Groupe Performance Marine, Mustang,Icom, Salus, Summum Sport and Imonaboat.ca.

About a month ago, I traveled to Charlevoix, MI for a special press event to introduce the H9 to a small group of journalists. This is a 29-foot 11-inch luxury day boat with a 9- foot 2-inch beam and it features a fabulous expansive flat floor all the way from the bow rider area to the transom and the swim platform.
