IMBC Issues Call for Presenters

The International Marina & Boatyard Conference (IMBC) has posted a “Call for Presenters” at its website, www.marinaassociation.org/imbc. The conference, produced by the Association of Marina Industries (AMI), is scheduled for January 30–February 1, 2013, at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

New for 2013, IMBC organizers will be offering the seminar schedule in tracks arranged by coastal, inland, or boatyard categories. Within those tracks, topics will include marina operations, emergency response tactics, construction, legal considerations for marinas on federally leased lands, boatyard operations, marketing, management, revenue generation, expense management, customer service, environmental issues, human resources, and marina law. IMBC asks that presentations be designed for intermediate to advanced levels of experience without overt company or product promotions.

“We’re constantly listening to feedback and making adjustments to our show to fit the actual needs of our participants and the industry,” Jim Frye, president of AMI, says. “For the next IMBC, we decided to arrange the seminar program in a manner that allows marina professionals to get the most out of the educational experience.”

The deadline for submitting presentations is May 31, 2012. For more guidelines and more information, please visit www.marinaassociation.org/imbc/education/seminars.

Formed in 2002 as the National Marina & Boatyard Conference, the International Marina & Boatyard Conference is currently the only show catered specifically to marina and boatyard owners, operators, and managers as well as dockmasters, harbormasters, boat builders and repairers, and industry consultants.

IMBC’s producer, the Association of Marina Industries (AMI) is a nonprofit membership organization providing management training, education, and information about research, legislation, and environmental issues affecting the marina industry.

About a month ago, I traveled to Charlevoix, MI for a special press event to introduce the H9 to a small group of journalists.
