  • Register Now for the Ontario Sailing Golf Classic

    The Ontario Sailing Golf Classic is only two weeks away – so register yourself or your foursome today!  There are still spots available, but time is running out.  Registration includes lunch, dinner, golf and more; $800 per foursome or $220 per individual golfer.

  • Local Show Manager Hired

    We are pleased to announce that Eric Nicholl has been hired as the local Show Manager for the Vancouver International Boat Show.

    Eric has a very strong event background and is a boater!   Most recently he was the Director of PR & Marketing with M-1 Global, producer of major martial arts events around the world.  As well,  National Event Sales and Operations Manager for Best Buy / Future Shop events in Canada. 
     
    Eric lives in Langley, BC and will work from his home based office there.

  • Excellent Results At The 2011 Port Credit Boat Show

    Spectacular, best-of-the-season weather on Saturday, August 27 helped the 2011 Port Credit Boat Show to get off to a solid start. Crowds were good and the vendors seemed pleased with the first day.
     
    Then, the winds of Hurricane Irene swept through on Sunday, but there was no rain in the cloudy skies, no damage resulted from the high winds and it seemed as though the weather blew away the tire kickers.

    This year the event will be held at Horseshoe Valley Resort on the Valley Course.

  • Boating Ontario Dealers Partner with Discover Boating on BoatDealers.ca

    Over the next two months, BoatDealers.ca will feature a Boating Ontario landing page (www.boatdealers.ca/discoverboatingontario) presenting boat listings from several Boating Ontario Dealers. The landing page will also promote the Discover Boating national contest aimed at encouraging new boaters to become a part of the exciting world of recreational boating. BoatDealers.ca serves over 1.5 million visitors annually and appears at the top of Google search results.

  • New – NMEA Member Service Helps Dealers Liquidate or Find Products

    NMEA members now may buy and sell new and used equipment and parts through www.nmea.org.

    This service, available to NMEA members only, is located on the members-only section of www.nmea.org.

    There are both times when dealers need to liquidate stock or find older equipment they may be seeking. Members need only go on the home page of www.nmea.org and access the “members only” section of the website through the “NMEA Members” button on the menu located on the left side of the home page.

  • Last Chance To Apply For Waterfront Challenge 2011 Grants

    This week is your last chance to apply for a Waterfront Challenge 2011 Grant from Interlux. The August 31 deadline for community organizations to apply for a 2011 Interlux® Waterfront Challenge grant and even though there is literally a matter of hours remaining, there is money available for qualified projects. The company will award $50,000 in grants in October 2011 to organizations to create sustainable waterfront environmental improvements in their communities. Eight grants from $4,500 to $20,000 will be awarded to groups in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean.

  • Nominations For The 2012 NMMA Canada Hall of Fame Award Now Open

    The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Canada has announced that entries are being accepted for the 2012 NMMA Canada Hall of Fame Award, one of the industry’s most prestigious honors given to an individual in the Canadian marine industry.

    The NMMA Hall of Fame Award is a top honour, recognizing an individual who shows extraordinary achievements in the recreational boating industry. The award acknowledges individuals who over the years have made lasting contributions to the betterment of the Canadian marine Industry.

    Karen and Paul Nickel, owners of The Pride Marine Group have announced that the company has expanded to embrace their sixth location with the acquisition of the former Boat Max dealership in Innisfil, Ontario. The high-visibility location fronts onto the very heavily travelled Highway 400, just south of Barrie, Ontario. Several other boat and cottage related businesses are also located here. The Boat Max facility is a modern, architecturally attractive building on a large parcel of land and with a showroom area suitable for the display of a whole range of boats.   • Whitney McClintock Sets Pending World Water Ski Record at National Championships

    The 61st Canadian Water Ski Championships concluded on Sunday with a pending world record performance by Cambridge, Ontario’s Whitney McClintock. Subject to review by the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation, the 22 year old bested the women’s world overall record by 5 points as a result of her outstanding combined national championship scores in slalom, tricks and jump.

    In slalom, McClintock won the Canadian title while amassing major overall points by eclipsing the Canadian record with a score of 61 buoys, which is 1 buoy at the 10.25m rope length, only 1 buoy shy of the world record for that event.

  • Best Ever! Aquapalooza 2011 At Papoose Bay Delights Boaters

    Under glorious skies, 400 plus boats came to visit, or anchor out to enjoy the Fifth Annual Aquapalooza event held July 23rd by Skyline Marina at Papoose Bay on Beausoleil Island  in Georgian Bay near Midland, Ontario.
     
    Aquapalooza started at 11:00 AM  and ran strong until 4:00 PM. As in past years, Aquapalooza is open to all boaters and everyone enjoyed a fun-filled family day on the water with activities for the kids and fantastic prize giveaways.
     
    This year’s entertainment was provided by DJ Rocky and the Bill McConnell and The Steelhorse Gypsies band. 

  • Free ABYC Member Webinar – “Changes to 2011 ABYC Standards for Small Craft”

    For ABYC Members, there is a free Webinar to be held on Wednesday, August 24th starting at 1:00 PM and running for 1 Hour and 15 Minutes. The session features John Adey presenting  “Changes to the 2011 ABYC Standards for Small Craft”. This will be a critical session for any boat builder and a very useful session for dealers and repair yards.
