We are pleased to announce that Eric Nicholl has been hired as the local Show Manager for the Vancouver International Boat Show.

Eric has a very strong event background and is a boater!   Most recently he was the Director of PR & Marketing with M-1 Global, producer of major martial arts events around the world.  As well,  National Event Sales and Operations Manager for Best Buy / Future Shop events in Canada. 
 
Eric lives in Langley, BC and will work from his home based office there.

Spectacular, best-of-the-season weather on Saturday, August 27 helped the 2011 Port Credit Boat Show to get off to a solid start. Crowds were good and the vendors seemed pleased with the first day.
 
Then, the winds of Hurricane Irene swept through on Sunday, but there was no rain in the cloudy skies, no damage resulted from the high winds and it seemed as though the weather blew away the tire kickers.
 
Lori Mason of The Store in Port Credit and show organizer summed it up this way,

This service, available to NMEA members only, is located on the members-only section of www.nmea.org.

There are both times when dealers need to liquidate stock or find older equipment they may be seeking. Members need only go on the home page of www.nmea.org and access the “members only” section of the website through the “NMEA Members” button on the menu located on the left side of the home page.

This week is your last chance to apply for a Waterfront Challenge 2011 Grant from Interlux. The August 31 deadline for community organizations to apply for a 2011 Interlux® Waterfront Challenge grant and even though there is literally a matter of hours remaining, there is money available for qualified projects. The company will award $50,000 in grants in October 2011 to organizations to create sustainable waterfront environmental improvements in their communities. Eight grants from $4,500 to $20,000 will be awarded to groups in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean.

At The Port Credit Boat Show Speaker’s Tent August 26-28, 2011

The lure of sailing the clear, turquoise waters of the Bahamas, the Caribbean or the South Pacific is always there. All of the speakers at this year’s Port Credit In-Water Boat Show have cruised these waters and will share their experiences for seasoned boaters and those who are just starting to dream.

From learning to sail, buying your first boat, taking the cruise, anchoring or heading the boat south for a winter or longer – the Port Credit- In-Water Boat Show 2011 has something for you. There are 19 seminars held over the 3-day show.

Ontario’s premier boat show, the Port Credit In-Water Boat Show, is celebrating 21 years August 26-28, 2011. It will be staged once again, at the Port Credit Harbour Marina – The Boating Super Centre, Mississauga, ON.

In the grand tent (40’X100’) and on-the-hard, will be over 50 land displays featuring marine equipment, insurance, finance, charters, sailing schools, boat associations, canvas makers, boats and more!

Make your plans to register for ABBRA’s six boatyard-focused sessions in the educational program at IBEX taking place from October 17 to 19, 2011 in Louisville, Kentucky.

The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Canada has announced that entries are being accepted for the 2012 NMMA Canada Hall of Fame Award, one of the industry’s most prestigious honors given to an individual in the Canadian marine industry.

The NMMA Hall of Fame Award is a top honour, recognizing an individual who shows extraordinary achievements in the recreational boating industry. The award acknowledges individuals who over the years have made lasting contributions to the betterment of the Canadian marine Industry.

Karen and Paul Nickel, owners of The Pride Marine Group have announced that the company has expanded to embrace their sixth location with the acquisition of the former Boat Max dealership in Innisfil, Ontario. The high-visibility location fronts onto the very heavily travelled Highway 400, just south of Barrie, Ontario. Several other boat and cottage related businesses are also located here. This is the last Floating Boat Show of the year and will take place at Mosquito Creek Marina, a beautiful 8 minute stroll from the Seabus along a scenic waterfront path with the City of Vancouver as a backdrop.

Under glorious skies, 400 plus boats came to visit, or anchor out to enjoy the Fifth Annual Aquapalooza event held July 23rd by Skyline Marina at Papoose Bay on Beausoleil Island  in Georgian Bay near Midland, Ontario.
 
Aquapalooza started at 11:00 AM  and ran strong until 4:00 PM. As in past years, Aquapalooza is open to all boaters and everyone enjoyed a fun-filled family day on the water with activities for the kids and fantastic prize giveaways.
 
This year’s entertainment was provided by DJ Rocky and the Bill McConnell and The Steelhorse Gypsies band.
