The team at C.C. Marine made a special presentation of a CDI Electronics M.E.D.S. (Marine Engine Diagnostic System) training system computer to Georgian College in honour of the late Russ Woodard.

Russ Woodard passed away June 25th, 2022 at his home on Sturgeon Lake, just shy of his 92nd birthday. In 1967 with business partner Mike Boase, Russ originally formed Woodard & Company and C.C. Marine has had a long and close relationship with Russ Woodard who originally introduced the Sierra line to C.C. Marine.

Woodard and Company Ltd., are manufacturers’ representatives, representing North American and international manufacturers of marine, recreational vehicle and commercial products. Its current president is John Reid, who purchased the company from Russ Woodard and Mike Boase in 1998. Russ Woodard was instrumental in bringing Sierra into Canada and to C.C. Marine. Sierra has a 56-year history as a global leader in manufacturing for the marine industry.

Both C.C. Marine and Woodard and Company are strong supporters of the marine industry and of the young people who will be the future technicians and managers. Their donation to Georgian College is a way to both express that support and to honour Russ Woodard’s memory.

Rob Davidson who heads up the Georgian College Marine program was on hand at the Boating Ontario Conference accompanied by two first-year Georgian College students, Stephanie Legault and Dylan Sherman. Charlie Bulmer with his wife Chris and C.C. Marine Vice President Rick Chang made the presentation.

Rob Davidson explained that, “Charlie Bulmer realized that this would give us the ability to train students on a platform that crosses several manufacturers – it’s an aftermarket system that communicates with many legacy engines.”
