AMTA held its Annual General Meeting last Thursday, November 26th. Jason Craig of Quartermaster Marine is the President of the Association in his second term. Returning Board members are; Brad Fleet, MCTi, Suzanne Rent, MetroGuide Publishing; Lee Toole; Stright MacKay,  Bobby Mitchell; GE Capital, Tara Mills, Seamasters Services, Terry Conrad, Conrad Marine,  Blair Gallant, Mercury Marine, Kathryn Newell, Iron Wind Marine,  Chip Dickison, Nova Scotia Boatbuilders Association, Norman Wiechert, NewStar Marine & Scooter. The Association would like to thank retiring Board Members Mare Wareham of the Marine Institute and Derek Bennett of the Town of Lewisporte for their service to AMTA.

Farewell to CMC

CMC, a long term member of AMTA and vendor of marine electronics has been sold to MacKay Marine. The Atlantic Canada offices will stay open however they will no longer be catering to the recreation boating market, their concentration will be commercial shipping only. AMTA would like to thank the staff of the Atlantic Canada offices for their contribution to the recreational boating industry in the region over many years.

Former AMTA Board member Derek Bennett of the Town of Lewisporte NL has won his bd to represent his region on the Provincial NL Government in the election held November 30th 2015.

Duncan Peacock, resident of Kitimat BC and member of Kitimat Marine Search and Rescue and RCMSAR Unit 63, has been awarded the 12th annual Tim Jones Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Outdoor Community in British Columbia.

Peacock has been a member of Kitimat Marine Search and Rescue and RCMSAR Unit 63 for 31 years, making him one of the longest-serving members in the province.
