Last year, Boating BC Association launched a grant and sponsorship program developed to support the province’s boating industry. This initiative was successful in enhancing boating as a recreational activity in local communities throughout the province – and Boating BC is now accepting applications for the 2018 program.

With funds graciously made available from the Vancouver International Boat Show, grants and sponsorships up to $2,500 will be distributed to organizations that:

• Facilitate and/or improve access to recreational boating in BC;
• Stimulate knowledge and education of aspects of the recreational boating industry; and/or
• Promote, improve or advance boating interests in BC, including participation in boating and environmental stewardship of BC’s waters.

Once again, financial support is made available to not-for-profit organizations who undertake projects related to capital infrastructure or events and initiatives that help to grow recreational boating or are deemed to increase participation in recreational boating in BC.

Boating BC President Don Prittie says, “There are enormous economic benefits for communities who have a strong boating industry in our province and our goal is to offer grants and sponsorships to create access to waterways in order for more communities to realize these benefits. With 27,000 kilometers of coastline and some of the most beautiful destinations in the country, having public access to waterways is important; it allows people to enjoy what makes BC special while increasing economic activity in a community. We are very pleased to be offering these grants and sponsorships again in 2018.”
