Legend. Leader. These words have been used to describe Boston Whaler since way back in 1958, when founder Dick Fisher sat calmly aboard a Whaler as it was sawed in half… and remained afloat. Last week, on the eve of its sixth decade, Boston Whaler kicked off a celebration of its Unsinkable legacy with a weeklong series of events, heralding an exciting future to come.

“We are proud to uphold a strong legacy of innovation and excellence,” said President Nick Stickler. “Over the past 60 years, Boston Whaler has always challenged the limits of possibility, driving the industry forward with advancements in design, engineering and manufacturing, all with the goal of providing customers not just ‘Unsinkability’ but also empowerment, confidence and enjoyment. Every Boston Whaler is a testament to our heritage and offers a window into our future: continued innovation, continued excellence, a continued focus on meeting our customers’ evolving needs and surpassing their expectations.”

Boston Whaler began the week with an international Media Event on August 22 and 23, hosted at southwestern Florida’s beautiful Hyatt Sarasota Resort. A Dealer Meeting and 60th Anniversary Gala then ensued from August 23 to 25, followed by a consumer Retail Event on August 26. At each of these events, more than 20 Boston Whaler models were in the water and available for test rides, including three models making their World Premiere: the new 150 Montauk and 170 Montauk, each a modern take on a beloved classic; and the all-new 350 Realm, the first in a new model family that combines the best attributes of a center console layout and a cabin cruiser.

For the year ahead, Boston Whaler is planning anniversary events including a fishing tournament, several customer rendezvous, and special boat show appearances, among other activities.

“Our goal was to host a series of events that spotlighted our intrinsic values and that celebrated the Whaler community — from the dealer partners who do an outstanding job championing Boston Whaler in the field, day in and day out, to the suppliers who support our drive for innovation, to the employees whose passion makes our success possible, to the customers who make up the larger Whaler community and inspire us to keep doing what we do,” said Stickler. “Last week proved a perfect opportunity to reflect on our successes as a team and to reaffirm our enthusiasm for the next 60 years and beyond.”
