CANADIAN-BASED MORBERN BRINGS THREE HIGH PERFORMANCE SURFACES TO IBEX

Morbern High Performance Surfaces

Oct 1, 2019

For the past few decades Morbern has been a leading voice in marine upholstery, covering upholstered and paneled surfaces in all types of water craft from speed boats to pontoons, fishing boats and yachts. At IBEX 2019, Morbern will present three of its most recently launched products filled with color and pattern.

Surf and Bayside
Surf and Bayside are apt names for two new colorful, sporty vinyls from Morbern designed to handle all the challenges that long exposure to sun and water bring. These complementary products employ Morbern’s Splash construction, a pink-stain resistant vinyl formulation, the gold standard in the marine industry. With UV protection, crack resistance and 4-way stretch, they are ideal materials for boat interiors and exteriors. They can handle the weather with their mildew resistance, 1,000 hours of exposure under WeatherOmeter testing, and a cold crack rating of -25 degrees Fahrenheit. And both can take 100,000 double rubs without significant wear using the Wyzenbeek test method.

Bayside features a smooth, matte linen grain in a range of 28 colors including a wide range of neutrals plus rich, rustic and earthy shades of reds, blues, yellows and greens.

The wavy lines in Surf’s deeply ingrained surface mimic the flow of the sea. The matte finish keeps it feeling casual, as do the 23 colorways in a palette of neutrals plus earthy reds, greens, oranges and blues.

Americana
The look and feel of classic menswear – a finely tailored waistcoat, creased trousers, a notched lapel – comes alive with Morbern’s newest performance coated fabric Americana. This outdoor vinyl can manage the moisture of weather at sea, harsh sun and frigid cold.

Americana is a high-resolution, extremely durable, digitally printed outdoor vinyl. It is the flagship product of Morbern’s (n)deavor! outdoor custom digital print technology, which transforms imagery into eye-catching performance fabric.

A loose, textured weave, created through detailed imagery and fine engraving is the hallmark of this new outdoor performance fabric. At once soft and striking, it conveys the warmth and texture of wool in seven classic solid colors with slight heathering. Colorways include: Origami White, Beach Sand, Tuscan Sun, Oceana, Mission Grey, Spider Grey and Platinum. “Americana’s metrics corroborate its ability to handle extreme temperatures and exposure to water and ice,” said Morbern Senior Vice President John Weaver.

This high-performance fabric passes the 1,000-hour weather resistance test, is compliant with CA TB 117-2013, is mildew resistant and can handle 500,000 double rubs using #8 cotton duck with the Wyzenbeek test method. It has a cold crack rating of -25 degrees Fahrenheit.
