CMP Group Ltd. Honored with Dual Recognitions at 2024 DAME Design Awards for SMartyr SCP System

CMP Group Ltd.

Dec 17, 2024

CMP Group Ltd. is proud to announce in partnership with Piombino Tech SRL and Quality Mark Inc., that its innovative SMartyr SCP System has been distinguished with two honors at the 2024 DAME Design Awards: Environmental Design Award and a Special Mention in the Security & Safety Onboard category.

Dame Design Awards

The DAME Design Awards, presented annually at METSTRADE, celebrate excellence in marine equipment design. The Environmental Design Award recognizes products that significantly contribute to environmental sustainability, while the Special Mention in the Security & Safety Onboard category highlights advancements in onboard safety.

The SMartyr SCP System is a self-contained, solar-powered impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) device that attaches to a vessel’s underside, protecting metal components from galvanic corrosion. Its eco-friendly design eliminates the use of harmful elements such as cadmium, mercury, indium, and copper that can be present in alloys, ensuring no degradation or deposits on the seabed.

The DAME Jury remarked, “An excellent development from a major anode-producing company offering a pathway to more sustainable solutions for cathodic protection in leisure marine.”

Following four years of rigorous in-house technical testing, CMP Group and its partners are preparing to implement real-world trials of the SMartyr SCP System in diverse environmental conditions across Canada, Italy, Australia, and the United States. These trials aim to refine the system’s performance and user experience. The initial rollout will focus on trim tabs, collaborating with trim tab manufacturers and boat builder partners. CMP Group plans to engage select customers in these trials before expanding to wider commercial distribution.
