COMPETITION COMPOSITES ANNOUNCES INSTALLATION OF A LARGE 5-AXIS CNC MILLING MACHINE

Competition Composites Milling Machine

May 17, 2019

Competition Composites Inc.  (est. 2002), a fiberglass and carbon fiber composite product manufacturer located just outside of Canada’s capital city of Ottawa Ontario, is pleased to announce its installation of a large 5-Axis CNC milling machine. CCI is known in the marine industry for its sailboat rudders, composite rudder stocks, and fabrication of bespoke components for custom yacht builds.

The new milling machine has a working envelope of 5m x 2m x 1.5m and can shape most non-metallic materials.  It complements CCI’s two pre-existing 3-Axis milling machines.

While the investment is primarily intended to enhance the company’s capabilities on larger composite tooling projects and one-off fabrications in its core business, the machine will also be an asset for customers in the area with a need to outsource large 3D milling projects.  The company has also purchased a 3D Scanner for First Article verification.
