CUSMA/USMCA Review & Consultations Open

October 7, 2025

In their latest member communication, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA Canada) has announced that the public consultation period for the Canada–United States–Mexico Agreement (CUSMA/USMCA/T-MEC) is now officially underway in all three countries.

In Canada, Global Affairs Canada opened its consultation on September 20, with submissions due by November 3, 2025.

In the U.S., the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has launched its consultation process, with written submissions due by November 3, 2025, and a public hearing scheduled for November 17, 2025.

If the U.S., Mexico, and Canada agree to continue with the agreement at the joint review in 2026, CUSMA/USMCA will be extended for another 16 years. If not, annual reviews will continue until July 1, 2036, providing additional opportunities to reach an extension.

NMMA Canada is working closely with NMMA U.S. to prepare coordinated submissions to both governments. Our goal is to ensure the recreational marine industry’s priorities—such as tariff stability, rules of origin, reducing export/import barriers, and supporting a competitive investment climate—are clearly represented.

NMMA Canada members are encouraged to submit comments directly to the through Global Affairs Canada before November 3 through: CUSMA-Consultations-ACEUM@international.gc.ca
