FALVEY INSURANCE SPONSORS 2013 SWIFTSURE INTERNATIONAL YACHT RACE

Falvey Yacht Insurance

Starting and ending in Victoria, British Columbia, the Swiftsure International Yacht Race qualifies as the preeminent long distance sailing competition in the region. Organized and hosted by the Royal Victoria Yacht Club, this year's May 25-27 event is tagged From Canvas to Carbon 70 Years of Swiftsure in celebration of its 70th running since 1930. Falvey Yacht Insurance is a new sponsor for this historic contest, and offers a unique reward for skippers entering the race.

Swiftsure encompasses five races over three courses, plus an inshore race, for both experienced and novice sailors. More than 150 yachts will participate this year, ranging from the 70' carbon fiber Westerly once owned by Dennis Conner to the 1907 classic 84' staysail schooner Martha. As part of its sponsorship, Falvey will reward every skipper competing in the race with a distinctive hat. The exclusive hats, which can only be earned, not purchased, will honor the sailors' grit and skill.

"As we build on our success in the US Pacific Northwest and look to the Canadian market, the Swiftsure event is one of the most prestigious races with which we could be affiliated," said Shawn Kucharski, Falvey Yacht Insurance president. "We're honored to be part of their anniversary celebrations."
