First Mercury Marine Avator™ 7.5e electric outboard registered in the U.S. sold by NuWave Marine

Mercury Marine Avator 7.5e Electric Outboard

May 29, 2023

NuWave Marine, a Mercury Marine authorized dealer in Woodbury Heights, New Jersey, recently sold the first Mercury Avator™ 7.5e electric outboard to be registered in the United States. The dealership, which specializes in Mercury outboards and MerCruiser® engines, is seeing consumer excitement about the electric propulsion system continue to build.

As one of the largest marine supply stores in the tri-state area, NuWave is fielding frequent inquiries about Avator from customers both locally and across the country, said Nick Borrelli, vice president of sales and marketing.

Of the more than 400 publicly accessible lakes, ponds and reservoirs in New Jersey, about 125 only allow boats powered by electric engines, according to the state’s Division of Fish and Wildlife. Avator will open these lakes to new exploration and fishing opportunities.

“We are thrilled to introduce the Mercury Avator electric outboard to the boating community in New Jersey and beyond,” said Borrelli. “This innovative motor will not only provide boaters with a more enjoyable and environmentally friendly experience on the water, but it will also unlock hundreds of previously inaccessible lakes for them to experience. We are excited to offer the Avator as a power package on new Lund boats at our dealership in New Jersey and to make them available for sale nationwide on NuWaveMarine.com.”

Avator is Mercury’s first step forward in electric propulsion systems and the 7.5e model is the first in a series of electric outboard products to be released in 2023 as Mercury advances on its commitment to be the leader in electrified propulsion. Mercury Avator 20e and 35e outboards will be in market later in 2023 with a total of five models to be announced by the end of 2023.

The Avator 7.5e outboard generates 750W of power at the prop shaft and produces similar speed and acceleration as a Mercury 3.5hp FourStroke outboard. Offered with tiller or remote steering, it’s ideal for powering many small boats, including tenders, jon boats, inflatables and kayaks.
