July 13, 2021

In an ongoing effort to improve their products and provide enhanced features to existing users, Garmin announces updates to the ActiveCaptain Community + the Q3 2021 marine software update that will provide improved functionality and new features throughout their marine systems.

ActiveCaptain Community – Reviews With Photos

• Boaters can now add up to three photos to reviews of points of interest like marinas, boat ramps and more within the ActiveCaptain Community within the free all-in-one ActiveCaptain App. Users can now also read the same reviews for difference businesses within the app, on ActiveCaptain.com or even on the MFD. Icons will also be updated to align with color coding on NOAA nautical charts.

• Boaters who take advantage of the growing community will be able to make smarter decisions whether they’re already on the water using their MFD or pre-planning in the mobile app to get the most out of their next getaway.

Marine Software Update – Mercury Engine Integration

• Now users can see Mercury engine performance data, including RPMs, fuel flow, temperature, trim, alarms and more, for up to four engines on their compatible Garmin chartplotter by using the SmartCraft Connect gateway. Learn more about Garmin’s support for SmartCraft engines here.

Marine Software Update – Force Trolling Motor Anchor Lock

• The anchor lock feature can now better adjust to weather conditions for smooth, steady positioning that uses less power.

Users can visit Garmin.com or tap on the “My Marine Devices” option from the ActiveCaptain app for a free download of the software update.
