The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), the leading association representing recreational boating in North America, has named Honda Marine as a recipient of the prestigious 2025 Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Award for Excellence in Customer Satisfaction for outboard engines. The 2025 award marks the twenty-third consecutive year that NMMA has honored Honda Marine, a division of Honda Power Sports & Products, with this recognition.
Honda Marine markets a complete range of marine outboard motors with models ranging from 2.3 to 350 horsepower. The company pioneered four-stroke engine technology and has been designing and building four-stroke outboard motors for more than 60 years, setting the benchmark for fuel efficiency, quiet operation and low emissions. Honda Marine outboards share the same unparalleled durability, quality, and reliability as Honda legendary automobiles.
The NMMA presented the 2025 CSI award on February 12 at a breakfast ceremony at the 2026 Discover Boating® Miami International Boat Show® (MIBS). The accolade is based on the overall satisfaction rating of owners for their outboard engines and acknowledges companies that actively measure customer satisfaction to pursue continuous improvement. Award recipients have achieved and maintained an independently measured standard of 90 percent or higher in customer satisfaction during the past year, based on customer surveys.
The Honda Marine division starts the new year with a renewed commitment to promoting recreational boating and elevating on-the-water experiences, helping keep boaters and watercraft running long and strong on the water. This week at MIBS, the Honda Marine team, led by Josh Matthews, newly appointed Division Director, showcases its high-performance outboard portfolio, enhanced technologies, customer service offerings, programs, and engagements—spotlighting what’s new and what’s next for 2026.
The NMMA Marine Industry CSI program provides a uniform measure of customer satisfaction across the full range of boats, engines and dealers in the recreational marine industry. Manufacturers and dealers can gauge customer satisfaction with their products and service experience and compare these satisfaction rates across all recreational boating segments. The program conducts two surveys with new boat and engine customers during the first year of ownership. The first survey is sent shortly after the time of boat delivery, and the second is sent nine months later. Together, the two surveys track customer satisfaction with the product, sales experience, delivery, and service process as well as product quality.
Securing the 2025 Customer Satisfaction Index Award from the NMMA dovetails with the company’s introduction of the all-new Honda BF350 high-power V8 outboard—the first Honda V8 engine available commercially; the launch of the McLaren Performance M300, a performance-inspired marine outboard (Honda Officially Licensed Product) fostered by the dynamic collaboration between McLaren Engineering and Honda Marine; and enhancements targeting Honda high-power outboards—BF115, BF140, and BF150 inline four (L4) and BF200, BF225 and BF250 V6 models.
“Receiving the CSI recognition from NMMA for 23 years running is a proud honor, and one that we take very seriously at Honda Marine. Customer confidence must be earned and maintained, and this award verifies that Honda Marine is continuously improving and providing customers with the product performance and reliability they want and need,” said Josh Matthews, Director, Honda Marine Division. “From new products and expanded service offerings to enhanced technologies and strategic channel partnerships with boat builders and dealers, Honda Marine is serving today’s marine market with premium power solutions that make everyday boating experiences extraordinary.”
