ILMOR MARINE CELEBRATES PRODUCTION OF ITS 10,000TH MARINE V8 ENGINE

Ilmor Celebrates

Ilmor Marine, LLC marked the production of its 10,000th marine V8 engine, a MV8 6.0L, with a celebration at its Mooresville, NC headquarters.

Representatives from Ilmor, Penske Corporation, GM Marine, ZF Marine and other key partners and suppliers were present for the starting of the 10,000th engine by Miles Atkins, Mayor of Mooresville.  Also present were Thom Dammrich, President of the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and Preston Curtis of Congressman Robert Pittenger’s Mooresville office.

“Today is the culmination of nearly a decade’s worth of effort on our recreational marine engine series, which began well before our first MV8 was built in 2010,” says Paul Ray, president of Ilmor Engineering.  “Reaching the 10,000th MV8 engine is entirely thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our engineering, production and support teams, who have collectively made Ilmor a significant player in the marine industry.”

Ilmor Marine, LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ilmor Engineering, Inc., and operates in a state-of-the-art 50,000 square foot marine engine assembly and test facility open since July 2010.  The plant manufactures Ilmor’s series of inboard GM Marine-based V8 (MV8) engines.  Ilmor Marine is also the exclusive engine supplier to MasterCraft Boat Company.

Ilmor has nearly thirty years of Indy-winning engineering history, as well as over a decade of performance powerboat drivetrain production. This experience led to the design, development and successful manufacture of the Ilmor Marine MV8 engine series.  Ideally suited for competitive water sports and recreational boating, Ilmor MV8 engines are built to the same stringent engineering standards as the company’s world-renowned race engines.  The MV8 engines are offered in 5.7L, 6.0L, 6.2L and 7.4L variants, each based upon industry standard GM Marine power plants. All MV8 engines utilize Ilmor-developed parts and systems designed to increase overall performance and reliability. Additionally, the engines are among the cleanest in the industry, being EPA, California-ARB and EU-RCD emissions compliant.

“We congratulate our engine partner, Ilmor Marine, on this significant milestone,” said Terry McNew, President and CEO of MasterCraft Boats.  “MasterCraft is committed to being best-in-class by building boats that are superior in quality, innovation and performance.  Ilmor has been a key partner in delivering on that promise by providing cutting edge and reliable high-performance engines exclusively for MasterCraft.  We look forward to our future with Ilmor’s team and putting another 10,000 engines in MasterCraft boats.”
