Dec 1, 2020

Iridium Communications Inc. is proud to share that partner company Intellian has introduced the C700 Iridium Certus® maritime terminal. Highly anticipated by the market, Intellian’s C700 terminal takes full advantage of the unique capabilities made possible by Iridium Certus and for the first time enables Intellian customers to stay connected from all the world’s oceans.

The C700 is designed to meet the needs of tankers, container ships, workboats, cruise, ferry lines, and even leisure craft, thanks to its compact size and no moving parts. With advanced performance, the new terminal enables a variety of applications including safety, bridge and crew welfare communications, situational awareness reports and connected ship IoT capabilities like engine monitoring and remote diagnostics.

The powerful, robust new maritime satcom system’s solid-state antenna has no moving parts inside and requires no scheduled maintenance over its lifetime. Delivering outstanding performance and functionality, the C700 enables customers across all markets with the flexibility to deploy it as the primary communication antenna or as a companion to a VSAT system for redundancy.

Iridium’s L-band is particularly resistant to rain fade and other forms of atmospheric interference, ensuring the C700 offers powerful performance, even in adverse weather or environments. The innate stability and reliable connectivity afforded by the C700 also make it an ideal platform for future safety services, including the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS).

“We’re proud to add Intellian’s C700 to our Iridium Certus terminal portfolio of robust products enabling truly global weather resilient maritime communications,” says Wouter Deknopper, vice president and general manager of maritime, Iridium. “Whether a primary ship communications solution or VSAT companion service, the C700 will give mariners a new choice for reliable connectivity at sea.”

Iridium Certus offers a unique opportunity to develop both terminals and applications with the advantage of a truly global network which supports engineering small-form-factor, cost-effective hardware to provide a new, superior choice for the maritime industry. Iridium is currently offering fleets an upfront credit for free Iridium Certus terminals, airtime, installation and more when upgrading from competing services.* To learn more, visit: www.IridiumCertus.com/upgrade
