NMMA CANADA RELEASES PRE-OWNED MARKETS SECTION OF 2016 STATISTICAL ABSTRACT

NMMA Canada

June 12, 2017

NMMA Canada has released the third section of the 2016 Canadian Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract – Pre-Owned Markets. The new report shows that pre-owned boat unit sales in Canada totaled 63,505 units in 2016, down slightly (0.8 percent) after rebounding to a two-year high in 2015. Corresponding dollars for pre-owned boats totaled $1.1 billion, down 2.3 percent from 2015, largely reflecting an 8.5 percent drop in outboard boat sales. However, growth in unit sales of sterndrive boats (up 5 percent), inboard cruisers (up 4.5 percent), personal watercraft (up 9.2 percent) and inflatable boats (up 23.7 percent) helped to offset the decline in other categories.

NMMA Canada’s annual Statistical Abstract is the most comprehensive collection of statistics on the nation’s recreational boating industry, providing insights that help stakeholders understand the economics of boating, as well as a common set of numbers stakeholders can reference when assessing the Canadian recreational marine market. The next section of the 2016 Canadian Abstract to be released is Exports/Imports, followed by the full report – a compilation of all sections.
Individual sections of the 2016 Abstract can be downloaded here within the Statistics section of nmma.ca. NMMA members receive unlimited complimentary access to the digital versions of each section as they’re available, in addition to the full compilation report later this summer. The print edition of the full report can be pre-ordered here.
