  • BOATING ONTARIO CONFERENCE AWARDS

    The 2013 Boating Ontario Conference and Trade Show concluded with the President’s Dinner and Awards ceremony on December 3rd, 2013.

    It was an excellent conference and attracted a much larger attendance this year but perhaps most encouraging was that the group included many more young people this year. These new faces will be the future of the industry and undoubtedly they profited from the veteran industry members, experts in the trade show and the excellent roster of presenters who were there.

  • TRUE NORTH YACHTS ANNOUNCES NEW SALES CONSULTANT FOR BENETEAU POWER, SABRE YACHTS AND BROKERAGE

    Elif Hanhan Yener recently arrived in Oakville from Turkey where she and her husband own and operate a successful Yacht Brokerage in Kalamis Marina in Istanbul. Elif has been selling power yachts since 2009 when she moved from a Marketing Manager position to join her husband in the company. Elif and her family have decided to raise their young son in Canada, and was eager to continue on the marine business.

    She joins True North Yachts as sales consultant for Beneteau Power and Sabre Yachts and as a pre-owned broker.

  • PERFORMANCE BOAT INSURANCE EXPERT GRAHAM NEALE WORKING WITH SKIPPERS’ PLAN

    The CG&B Group Inc., operators of Skippers Plan marine insurance, has brought well-known boater and insurance broker Graham Neale on board as Senior Account Executive. For many years, owners of offshore performance boats have appreciated Neale as a broker who understands their boats as well as their insurance needs. Neale, who will be working primarily with CG&B’s logistics clients, will also be contributing to the Skippers’ Plan team. High performance craft are in most ways like other boats yet their design and power means they need to be treated individually. The engines and components and construction of performance boats are specialized so it takes a broker conversant with them to provide proper coverage.

    All boating industry professionals are invited to attend the 2014 NMMA Canadian Recreational Boating Industry Session to be held January 14th at the Galleria East in the  Direct Energy Centre during the Toronto International Boat Show, Exhibition Place in Toronto. The event opens at 8:30am with a hot breakfast, then Presentations from 9:00am–11:00am. Registration deadline for this popular event has been extended to January 9, 2014.

  • BLAKE NICHOLLS PRESENCE WILL BE MISSED BY THE BOATING COMMUNITY

    The boating industry is very sad to mark the unexpected passing of Blake Nicholls on November 25th.  Blake opened Nicholls Marine on Niagara Blvd in Fort Erie in 1956.  Beloved husband of the late Miranda "Patricia" (2005). Loving father of Timothy (Judy) Nicholls, Cathy Lewis and Penny (Jeff) Shaw. Cherished grandfather of Nicole and Adam Lewis, Brent, Alison and Christina Nicholls and Olivia Shaw. Sadly missed by his sisters Lynn Edwards and Elaine King and many nieces and nephews.

  • THE PACIFIC YACHT CONFERENCE COMES TO VANCOUVER NEXT MAY

    With its spectacular cruising grounds visited by relatively few superyachts, compared to say the Caribbean or the Mediterranean, the Pacific Northwest coastline appears to be a well-kept secret, at least in large yacht circles. A new conference taking place aims to put Puget Sound, BC, Alaska and the entire region`s coast firmly on the superyacht map.   The Pacific Yacht Conference taking place in Vancouver on 28th & 29th May, 2014 is an international industry conference that will aim to draw participants from across the globe. 

  • ONTARIO SAILING LAUNCHES CONSUMER OUTREACH PROGRAM

    Sailing organisation aims to grow boating participation in Canada’s most populous province.  Ontario Sailing, a not-for-profit, volunteer organisation committed to promoting sailing in Canada’s most populous province, has launched a new consumer outreach plan that the organisation hopes will entice more people to go boating. The new Get Into Sailing program will be officially launched at the Toronto International Boat Show, to be held from January 10-19 at the Direct Energy Centre in downtown Toronto. Ontario Sailing will also promote the new program at the Toronto Outdoor Adventure Show, held from February 21-23 at the International Centre near the Toronto airport.
