  • BRUNSWICK BOAT GROUP ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES

    The Brunswick Boat Group, a unit of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC), has announced that Tim Schiek has been named president of the Sea Ray Group effective March 11.  He will report to Andy Graves, president – Brunswick Boat Group. 

    Schiek, with Brunswick for the past 18 years, has been president of the Boston Whaler Group since 2010.  Joining Schiek at the Sea Ray Group will be Dave O’Connell, who will assume responsibilities as senior vice president global sales for the Sea Ray and Meridian brands.  O’Connell most recently was president – Hatteras/CABO and will report to Schiek. 

  • CENTEK INDUSTRIES LAUNCHES ECO-FRIENDLY COMPOSITE PILES FOR DOCKS, PIERS, BOATLIFTS, SEAWALLS

  • EXTREME RACE – STANDARD VOLVO PENTA ENGINES

    Standard engines from Volvo Penta will deliver diesel power to the world’s toughest and most extreme round-the-world races – the Volvo Ocean Race.
     
    The 2014-2015 edition of the Volvo Ocean Race is the fifth race with Volvo Penta as official engine supplier. During a nine-month journey that covers over 39,000 nautical miles, the Volvo Ocean Race boats, crew and engines will meet some of the toughest challenges in round the world sailing.

  • BOATING ONTARIO REGIONAL MEETINGS ARE UNDERWAY

    Graham Lacey, Boating Ontario President recently sent out a member communication that it is time to 'spring forward' and prepare for another season, starting by attending the slate of Regional Meetings planned by the staff at Boating Ontario.

    Lacey raises several challenges that lie ahead for the industry and the Boating Ontario Association. The obvious issues of low water levels, operational and rate changes in the Trent- Severn and Rideau systems and water lot leases are examples. Lack of funding for the association programs, skilled staff shortages and sustainable funding for the Association are not new, but still demand attention.

  • CRATE’S IS OPENING IN BELLEVILLE

    Crate Marine Sales is pleased to announce that Crate’s is expanding to Belleville, Ontario.  With plans to open for the 2013 boating season, work is already underway at what was previously the Morch Marine location.   • WEST MARINE SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR $30,000 IN MARINE CONSERVATION GRANTS

    In support of its ongoing efforts to improve and conserve the marine environment, West Marine is seeking applications for Marine Conservation Grants. There will be five to ten grants awarded in amounts ranging from $500-$5000 per recipient. 

    Applications are available online at www.westmarine.com/bluefuture. The closing date for entries is May 1, 2013 and the winners will be announced on World Oceans Day, June 8, 2013.

  • WEBASTO AWARDS ITS TOP CUSTOMERS

    To honor those who've contributed much to its success, Webasto Thermo & Comfort North America presented its 2012 Top Customer Awards at this year's Miami International Boat Show. ITR Marine, Sure Marine, West Marine and Land N' Sea all received this top honor. Webasto also named Defender as its 2012 Retailer of the Year and honored Marysville Marine with an Outstanding FCF Sales Achievement award.

    Dave Wollard, director marine division, presented the awards at Webasto's Series 40 Sunroof launch reception during the show. Gary Lee, of ITR Marine, Eric N. Hinze of Sure Marine Service Inc., Matt Hyde of West Marine, and Tom Schuessler and Mike Conners of Land N' Sea were on hand to accept the awards.

  • TAKE THE HELM OF A GRAND BANKS

    West Coast Grand Banks dealer Grand Yachts invites boaters interested in GBs in general and GB 36s in particular to “take the helm” of one of these boats Saturday, March 23 at their sales docks in Coal Harbour, Vancouver or at Port Sidney on Vancouver Island.

  • TALL SHIPS 1812 TOUR VISITING 16 GREAT LAKES PORTS THIS SUMMER

    The TALL SHIPS® 1812 Tour presented by Redpath Sugar will sail throughout Ontario during the summer of 2013! In commemoration of the War of 1812, 16 ports will be participating and the tour is produced in partnership with the TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® Great Lakes. 

    The Redpath Waterfront Festival, June 20-23, 2013, will be the official launch of the tour when TORONTO welcomes the entire international fleet, occupying two kilometers along the inner harbour.
