STILL TIME TO JOIN THE ABYC ELECTRICAL CERTIFICATION COURSE (NORTH VANCOUVER, BC)

There is still time to get into the ABYC Electrical Certification Course held through Raven Marine, North Vancouver. The ABYC says that this electrical certification course with instructor Kevin Ritz is designed and intended for those with a minimum of 3-5 years practical experience in the field of marine electrical design, service or installation. Students new to the marine electrical field should consider our basic electrical programming options.

The successful certification candidate should be familiar with all of the ABYC electrical standards, although the applicable standards will be reviewed as a part of the course. Course content is broken out into 14 topic areas that will be presented over a three and ½ day period. The three-hour certification exam will be administered during the fourth day of the program from late morning into early afternoon. The exact time for the exam will depend upon varying class sizes and review time needed.

The 14 topic areas that the candidates should have some pre-requisite background to include: •
Electrical fundamentals – AC Shore Power Systems – Cable Installation and Termination – AC Generators • Maintaining and Installing
Battery Systems – AC Panel boards – Battery Charging Systems – DC Panel boards – Inverters – AC Components – DC Components – Safety Equipment – Troubleshooting, Tips and Hints

Candidates may reference all study materials including the supplied study guide (which contains all pertinent ABYC standards integrated into the text), class notes and additional ABYC standards in either printed or computer-based form during the certification exam. The exam is timed at 3 hours and is comprised of approximately 200 multiple-choice questions.

Students with special needs must inform the ABYC in writing of said needs at the time of class registration to ensure that any special accommodations can be made for exam taking. Students must supply their own #2 pencil if they are going to be taking the written version of the certification exam. Students may use a calculator during the exam. All exams are proctored and any candidate caught texting or behaving unethically during the exam will be ejected by the test proctor.

Course Registration Fees: ABYC Member $885.00    Non-member $1,170.00

CMRA

As of July 1st, 2024 the embargo is lifted on the photos and information about Four Winns’ new H9 model and it is stunning!

About a month ago, I traveled to Charlevoix, MI for a special press event to introduce the H9 to a small group of journalists.
