International Marina Institute Heading to “The Land of 10,000 Lakes” August 2017

The International Marina Institute (IMI), a subsidiary of the Association of Marina Industries (AMI), is offering its popular Intermediate Marina Management (IMM) course August 14- 17, 2017, in Minneapolis, Minnesota in partnership with the Midwest Marina Association.

The IMM course is the first step toward earning the highly recognized Certified Marina Manager (CMM) or Certified Marina Operator (CMO) designations. Upon successful completion of the IMM course, students must then attend the Advanced Marina Management (AMM) course before applying for certification.

The IMM course exposes students to new ways of dealing with issues and challenges common throughout the marina industry. It covers marina-specific topics including marina law, contracts, risks and liabilities, staff management, fire-and-emergency-response planning, environmental management, health and safety compliance, and how best to market your marina to stay competitive in today’s climate.

“This is the first time we are offering an IMM course in the summer,” says Merritt Alves, IMI training coordinator. “We are hoping to capture students who are not able to attend our annual courses held in November and March. By heading to the Midwest, we are able to offer our members in that region a course closer to home. “

Course fees include hotel stay, breakfast and lunch each day, along with all course materials. The fee is $2,995 for AMI members and $3,470 for non-members.

IMI has been training and certifying marina personnel for over 30 years and offers courses in Intermediate Marina Management and Advanced Marina Management. Today there are 341 Certified Marina Managers and 24 Certified Marina Operators throughout the world.

AMI is a nonprofit membership organization that provides management training, education, and information about research, legislation and environmental issues affecting the marina industry.

The association is very well supported and virtually any significant marine electronics company that you could name, was represented there on the Exhibitor list at the Expo as well as all being NMEA members and very supportive of the organization.
