WELCOME ABOARD (LITERALLY) FOR THE 2014 MONTREAL IN-WATER BOAT SHOW!

QMA Boat Show

From September, 5th until the 7th, the Quebec Marine Association (QMA) will host the 5th edition of the Montreal In-Water Boat Show. The event will take place in the Old Port. For the 12 000 awaited visitors, this is a unique occasion to discover, free of charge, more than a hundred types of boats of all sizes in the heart of Montreal.

This year, visitors will also be able to receive a free on-water training thanks to the Discover Boating program. Whether you are a visitor, a fan of boating or a potential buyer, the Montreal In-Water Boat Show is the annual gathering for boating enthusiasts around the Montreal area. According to organizers, the 2014 edition will be more impressive thanks to the many activities taking place in the Old Port. Open house visits of luxury yachts and imposing sail boats, free practice nautical go-kart rides and end-of-season discounts will make this event an absolute success and the can't-miss occasion of the summer.

Get free boating lessons

For the first time in Quebec, boaters are offered on-water training during the Montreal In-Water Boat Show. The Discover Boating Hands-On Skills Training (HOST)program is free of charge and aims to educate Canadians to become confident and safe boaters. Launched by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), the Montreal In-Water Boat Show will also be the first event in Canada to present this program. Lessons will be taught by a professional from the Aquanaute training centre. Each training course is 60 minutes long and participation is limited to 4 persons per boat. Registration for HOST program is currently available for the Montreal In-Water Boat Show September 5-7, 2014 here.

Dive into the Canadian naval history with the Pogo
The Montreal In-Water Boat Show will also welcome the Pogo, the first scout boat of the Royal Canadian Navy to explore the Arctic. Built in 1954 in the Sorel shipyards, this museum-like treasure is still used as a training boat for the sea cadets. Built solely with aluminium (a challenge at the time), the Pogo was famous during the Cold War. It has contributed to the recognition of the Arctic coast and allowed the development of an early warning system to prevent USSR intrusion attempts.

About the QMA
Founded in 1996, the QMA focuses on the advancement of pleasure boating. Through its programs Quebec Nautical Stations, Eco-Marinas, Marina Rating and Boating Safety, it has become a must for nautical tourism, sustainable development, upgrades of the nautical infrastructures and safety awareness. Each year, the association publishes the Nautiguide, a reference greatly appreciated by boaters, and organizes the Boat and water sports as well as the Montreal in-Water Boat Show held in the Old Port of Montreal. In addition, the QMA offers many services to nearly 9000 members and corporate boaters.
