Registration is first come, first served and you will be invoiced for 100% of the course fee once you submit your registration form to NSBA. Full payment is due by April 9, 2020. If full payment is not received at this time, your registration will be cancelled and your space will be made available to others.

This four-day course is designed for the experienced technician with at least 3 – 5 years of experience working with marine electrical system design, installation or repair and will provide the student with a comprehensive and focused look at the key ABYC Standards. The successful certification candidate should have some familiarity with ABYC electrical standards listed on ABYC’s website for this course; there is also an Electrical Certification Pretest on the same webpage to test your exam readiness: https://abycinc.org/page/classes

Course topics include electrical theory; multi-meter usage; grounding and bonding systems; cable installation and termination; battery installation, maintenance, testing & charging systems; inverter installation and troubleshooting; AC shore power systems; AC generators; AC and DC panel boards; AC and DC components; and safety equipment.

Once registered, each student will be shipped a Study Guide that should be studied before the course along with the ABYC Electrical standards. You will need to bring your Study Guide and your copy of the ABYC Standards manual to the course. If you do not have access to an ABYC Standards manual, please contact the ABYC Education Department to purchase one. The course ends with a 200-question certification exam.
