SUMMER SAILSTICE SLATED FOR JUNE 24-25

Summer Sailstice

May 29, 2017

It’s all about having fun and celebrating sailing on Summer Sailstice.

June 24-25 may be a very busy weekend on the water for North America’s sailors. That’s the date of the Summer Sailstice, an annual gathering of sailors where, for the past 16 years, they have celebrated sailing with a schedule of local on-water events that encourage the community to join in on the fun.

Sailstice sponsor Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) encourages sailors to go to summersailstice.com to find an event nearby, or to organize a public or private event such a day cruise, rendezvous or race. An online event tool kit can help clubs, sailing schools, fleet classes and any group of sailors with ideas and publicity tools to get attention for your event.

Sailors can also get in on the action by also entering to win contests with prizes provided by BoatUS, Sunsail, Offshore Sailing School, San Juan Sailing, Navionics, West Marine, Harken, Schaefer, Ronstan, UK Sailmakers, North Sails, Doyle Sailmakers, Weems and Plath, and more.

“There will be no shortage of sunlight over the weekend,” said BoatUS Vice President Heather Lougheed. “So go out and have some fun by joining up with other sailors. Bring some new friends aboard and share your passion for sailing.”
