Barcelona Boat ShowThe Barcelona International Boat Show was held October 10 - 14, 2018, and Boating Industry Canada News Week was there for you. Over 250 exhibitors displayed 700 boats, including an impressive display of 165 large boats in the water.

This year, the show incorporated the first Nautic Tech International Forum, showcasing thirty startups from around the world.

One highlight of the show was E2SOL, a European company specializing in high tech military grade solar systems. Readers will be most interested in PowerDocks, the world's first commercially available line of solar electric docks called Blue Isles™.

Barcelona Boat Show

The Barcelona Boat Show proved to be a great showcase for interesting boats and products, many that are not currently offered in North America.
One highlight of the show was E2SOL, a European company specializing in high tech military grade solar systems. Readers will be most interested in PowerDocks, the world's first commercially available line of solar electric docks called Blue Isles™.
These intelligent floating micro-grid platforms are constructed to collect, store and redistribute renewable energy. They can be used to generate significant amounts of off-grid power for marinas, ports, moorings and robotic systems.
. PowerDocks LLC is currently designing IOT enabled platforms that can provide electric recharging to a variety of industries including recreational marine, aquaculture, water quality, defense and oceanography. If you are interested in these products for your marina or for your customers, we have the contact information for Anthony Baro, Managing Principal for the North American market.
Brig rigid inflatables are a familiar product to Canadians, but this model with 700 horsepower got my motor running.
Many wakeboard and ski boats were on display, despite the cost of gas in Europe. Nautique displayed their “under the swim platform” hardware including a rear thruster and underwater exhaust.
Many stand up paddleboards were on display, and visitors could try them out in this display by Jobe Sports.
Displays of floating docks and boat ports are in Canadian boat shows, but this display by Wave Armor in the water really sold the concept.
Bavaria Yachts displayed their dinghy storage garage, combined with a drop down swim platform that doubles as a transom.
As an islander, I took a special liking to this red landing barge.
You’ve seen wakeboards, and you’ve seen PWCs. Now meet the union of the two, motorized surfboards. This one is a gas-powered model from Jetsurf, displayed by Nauti-Parts of Mallorca who have a 200-page catalog of water toys. You can also get electric surfboards from Onean, and electric hydrofoil boards from Flite.
There were several big open boats with gorgeous mahogany trim, like these from Gozzo Positano displayed by Metropol Nautica of Spain. Gozzo boats were a primary means of transport in Malta for 700 years. Girbau also displayed 27 and 30 foot models.
My favourite of the show has to be this wonderful little skiff.
