SAILTIMER – SPRING LAUNCH PLANNING

Sailtimer

Apr 17, 2018

All sailors need wind information. The SailTimer app on iOS (and soon on Android) can provide a quick and easy display of your optimal tacks and Tacking Time to Destination. If the app is connected to the wireless, solar-powered SailTimer Wind Instrument™, as the wind changes your optimal tacks update automatically. As shown in this new 20-second YouTube clip, the Wind Instrument is for sailboats of all sizes, from keelboats to dinghy sailboats. No wires to install down the mast.

There are also some YouTube sailing channels starting to demo the Wind Instrument, which you may be interested to subscribe to. You can see the Wind Instrument running in very light winds at the beginning of this Tasman Bay crossing on the South Island of New Zealand (note the interesting display of the boat’s compass heading/speed within the video). The same channel Sailing Taranto also posted an unboxing video and setup on Android. In the northern hemisphere, s/v Dijan has a channel showing boat projects before heading down the US Intra-Coastal Waterway. This episode shows initial unboxing and test mount. If anything is unclear when using the Wind Instrument or apps, we have prompt technical support at the click of a mouse.
